Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's achieved huge fame with the stories she recounts about her early heartbreak. Swift showed an interest in music at an early age, and quickly moved through roles in the children's theater to her first appearance before the crowd of a thousand. When she was 11 years old, she performed The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match and the following year she took up guitar and started writing songs. Swift got inspiration from musicians who played country music, like Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks as well as the Chicks in order to write original music that reflected the loneliness she experienced by the age of 13. In the year 13 Swift's parents sold their property in Pennsylvania in order to relocate towards Hendersonville Tennessee so she could spend more time to courting country labels in nearby Nashville.
